what a fun party

we had so much fun on saturday celebrating jacob's first year. Thank you all for coming and for those of you who couldn't be at the party here are some pictures. I had a lot of fun decorating. I hung up streamers and made some celebration flags and a birthday crown for the birthday boy. I also displayed pictures of jacob from the last year. It was fun to look back and see how much he has changed.

a soup a week

to celebrate this new season of fall that starts today i decided to make some soup. One of my favorite things about fall besides layering, coats, and leaves falling is soup. I love soup and especially homemade. I have a standby veggie soup i will make soon but to start my soup season i thought i would start easy and use a chicken noodle soup mix and add veggies and leftover salsa elizabeth had made for the party on saturday. it is really good and I hope to eat it throughout the week if it lasts. I am going to try to make a new soup a week for a quick one person dinner. soon I will add homemade bread i just don't have any yeast for that right now.

do you have a favorite soup i should try?

happy birthday!!!

jacob is one today. we had a great day. when we got to work the house was all decorated and they had bought a cake for jacob. we enjoyed the party and jacob had a piece of cake. I think the amount of sugar he ate in the short amount of time made him. sick. it looked like he was about to puke. this afternoon he went over to casey's house to celebrate with his family and had a great time. He even got a broom and a mop so now he can help out with chores around the house!

I really cannot believe it has been a year since i welcomed this sweet little helpless boy into the world. What a fun, fun year it has been. Jacob is a wonderful addition to my life and I cannot imagine life without him. I never truly believed that having a child would change the way I see the world but it definitely has.

I can't get enough of the sweet hugs and kisses he is so willing to give out right now. He is a joy to be around. This next is sure to bring many more adventures and changes and I am very excited to watch as this little guy gets more used to himself and who he is.

thank you to all of you for your support and the love you have shown jacob and I. we are truly blessed to be a part of such a great, loving community.

the jumperoo

I put jacob in the jumperoo again today and he is way to huge for it but thought i would snap some pictures to see some comparisons. there is a reason babies take at least two naps a day, man do they are change SO MUCH in nine short months. i would sleep that much too if i was growing and changing that much.

we went to the como zoo today and if you live around here i would say you should go. any age. that baby orangutan is just so cute. he would try to jump up and grab the rope and then quick go snuggle with his mom and the jump up to the rope and go and snuggle with his mom. on and on. i could have watched all day.

around the house

I planted morning glories this spring and had lost hope in them when I never saw a bloom. I went out to my overgrown neglected garden and found this beautiful bluish purple bloom. I was so excited and I hope there will be more blooms soon.

This is a picture of jacob's toys. I had the carpets cleaned about two weeks ago and rearranged a little bit. Jane wanted to see and I wanted to show you. The toys rarely get played with anymore so it is often this clean.
